Yealands Wine Group crowned NZ Wine Producer of the Year 2014

Yealands Wine Group has been named as New Zealand Wine Producer of the Year at the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) 2014. The prestigious title was collected by Simon Kelly, European Sales Director, at the awards evening held in London overnight.

The Marlborough based, family-owned Yealands Wine Group collected an outstanding 37 medals, including a gold medal for the recently released Yealands Estate Winemaker’s Reserve Gibbston Pinot Noir 2013.  

Tamra Kelly-Washington, chief winemaker of Yealands Wine Group was incredibly excited to hear the news overnight. “To be awarded the producer of the year at such a prestigious competition like the IWSC is an incredible achievement. The recognition for such a large range of varietals from our Pinot Noir, Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Gris to our Sauvignon Blanc; is truly humbling” says Mrs Kelly-Washington.

Owner and Founder, Peter Yealands, was thrilled to hear the news come through while travelling overseas. “It’s a brilliant result; a milestone award which endorses our entire range of world class wines. It’s so humbling to see the company go from strength to strength. This week we were awarded an overall World Champion title from the International Green Apple Environment awards and five gold medals at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards. To receive further international recognition for our overall wine quality from the IWSC is simply outstanding,” says Mr Yealands.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the team, and look forward to getting home to celebrate with them shortly.”
